Pork Dumplings
Hearty and flavorful, these Ukrainian/Russian-style pork dumplings (also known as pelmeni) are the ultimate comfort food—tender dough parcels filled with savory seasoned pork, perfect for cozy nights and family feasts.
Ingredients:
Pelmeni Dough
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt Kosher
1 egg
¼ cup avocado oil or any oil of your choice
¾ cup water
Pelmeni Filling
1 lb ground turkey
½ lb ground pork
1 small zucchini pureed
2-3 cloves garlic
salt & pepper to taste
4 tablespoons butter or to taste
Instructions:
Dumpling Dough
For the dough, combine 3 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt in a stand mixer bowl. Add 1 egg, ¼ cup of avocado oil, and ¾ cup of water. Using the dough hook, knead on low for 5-10 minutes. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
Pork Dumplings Filling
In a food processor, blend 1 small zucchini and 2 cloves of garlic until almost pureed.
Add 1 lb of ground turkey and ½ lb of ground pork. Season with salt and pepper and pulse well until everything is combined.
How to Make Pork Dumplings
Divide the dough into 4 balls, covering the rest with plastic wrap. Roll one ball into a long sausage and cut it into small pieces, lightly dusting each with flour.
Roll out each piece into a circle, placing a small amount of filling in the center. Fold in half and pinch to seal.
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add dumplings and cook for about 5 minutes once boiling.
Remove with a slotted spoon, toss with butter to prevent sticking, and serve with sour cream and black pepper. Garnish with greens like parsley. Enjoy
