These Goat Cheese Logs Are Next-Level Spreads
We’re over-the-moon excited to introduce you guys to the latest delicious addition to our Cheese Department: Vermont Creamery Fresh Chevre! This multi-award-winning creamery has been in operation for nearly 40 years, during which they’ve perfected the artful science of crafting next-level goat cheese.
Soft, spreadable, pleasantly tart... these are all terms that come to mind when we’re talking about fresh chevre. The flavor is mild, buttery, and earthy, and the texture is a lovely balance of creamy and crumbly, lending itself to all kinds of tasty applications. Sprinkle it over salads, spread it onto crusty bread, stir it into dips and soups, or make it the star attraction of a cheese board. There are a gazillion clever ways to use this cheese, especially when Vermont Creamery has already enhanced it with delicious inclusions like these:
Wild Blueberry Lemon Thyme – Infused with sweet, dried blueberries and candied lemon peel, with a savory hit of thyme. This one pairs beautifully with kumquats and persimmon, or a on baguette with a dollop of fig jam. Gewurztraminer is a perfect wine choice to highlight these fresh flavors.
Herb – Hand rolled in a blend of rosemary, basil, oregano, and thyme, this is lovely served on whole grain crackers alongside a green salad. Crumble it into an omelet. Or, get crazy and pair it with buttery bread sticks and squares of dark chocolate. Trust us on this. It's fabulous with Chardonnay!
Clover Blossom Honey—Sweet, tangy, and summery, serve this with Amaretti cookies, or on a cheese board with almonds, pears, rye toast and a drizzle of warm local honey. Sip IPA or a full-bodied, dry red like Barbera with this lovely chevre.
Smoky Pepper Jelly—Sweet and spicy green and red peppers with a hint of hickory smoke. Pair this one with tangy cornichons, Castelvetrano olives, and green grapes. Serve it on a tortilla rollup with baby greens and cucumbers. Pop a cork of your favorite sparkling rose’ and enjoy!
Everything—The chevre version of an everything bagel! Encrusted with onion, garlic, poppy, and sesame seeds, just imagine all the ways this creamy treat could elevate your breakfast. Don’t stop there, though. Spread it into a sandwich or flatbread (or just eat it by the spoonful. No judgment!). Sauvignon blanc is a great wine choice to serve with this savory chevre.
