The Big Game Day is just around the corner; it’s basically the universe testing you on how well you’re going to stick to your new year’s resolution diet. When you show up to the party, it’s going to be tempting to gravitate towards all that delicious tailgating food. Instead of altogether steering clear of the following foods at your Game Day Party, here’s a healthy-ish meat-free option. Buffalo wings always come to mind while watching football games, but first of all, the chicken wings are skin and mostly all fat. Seriously, are the actual wings really celebrated? It’s the sauce everyone raves over. This oven-roasted Buffalo-style Brussels Sprouts recipe is the perfect alternative that will satisfy your taste buds. There’s something magical that happens when the sweet and bitterness of the Brussels sprouts are mixed with the spicy and acidic hot sauce. Finish it off with a little creaminess of crumbled Gorgonzola on top, this dish will score a touchdown with your guests!
Ingredients
1.5 lbs Brussels sprouts, rinsed, dried, trimmed and cut in half
6 whole garlic cloves
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp. sea salt,
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup Frank’s Red Hot, or your favorite hot sauce
2 Tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp white vinegar
5 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon smoked paprika (substitute with cayenne if you like it spicier)
8 oz crumbled gorgonzola
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 °C.
Toss Brussels Sprouts and garlic cloves in olive oil. Season with salt and pepper
Arrange the Brussels sprouts single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet.
Roast in the oven for 30-35 minutes, shaking the pan from time to time so the browning is more evenly.
Meanwhile, make the sauce.
In a bowl, mix the hot sauce, melted butter, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and smoked paprika (mix thoroughly until there are no streaks of fat from the butter).
When the Brussels sprouts are nice and charred, fresh out of the oven, drizzle the sauce over everything and lightly toss to coat. Transfer to a serving plate.
Sprinkling the crumbled Gorgonzola on top and serve immediately.
