Cracking a Wheel on National Cheese Lover's Day!

parmesan.jpg

This month we're celebrating National Cheese Lover's Day with the king of cheeses. The lengthy process of making and aging the hard Italian cheese makes it super versatile. The cheese is soaked in a salty brine for about 20 days and aged for over a year to give it a nice nutty, sweet, and pungent aroma. Always the star on any antipasti plate, it also goes great on pasta, salads, and pizza. Did you know that when a wheel of Parmesan cheese is aged well enough to have a protective covering, the wheel is carefully imprinted with dots that spells out "Parmigiano-Regianno" to prove its authenticity?

Come Watch us crack an 85lb wheel of Consoriza Del Formaggio Parmigiano Reggiano. We'll be using an official 5-piece knife set to crack the cheese. Visit the Boise Co-op in Meridian Saturday, January 20th between 2:30pm-3:30pm, and have fun learning about the king of cheeses. Cracking the Parm Wheel@ The Village Store
