OUR PURPOSE:

To nurture every body in our community without compromise.

OUR ROOTS

The Boise Co-op was started in 1973 by an enterprising group of health-conscious individuals searching for nutritious, great-tasting food at reasonable prices. Little did they know that their seed of inspiration would grow into a community of more than 50,000 members who care just as passionately about healthy food!

To this day, the Boise Co-op Market is still a community-owned natural foods market, and we’re dedicated to providing responsibly sourced products that uphold uncompromised standards. Our mission is to nurture every body in our community without compromise. We prioritize quality, ethics, sustainability, accessibility, and care in every aspect of our operations. Our diverse product offerings include local and organic produce, natural dairy, premium meats, seafood, and much more. Each product is carefully evaluated to ensure it meets our rigorous standards. We invite you to experience the Boise Co-op difference. Visit us at boise.coop or follow us @boisecoop.

WHAT’S A CO-OP?

Remember those school-day lessons about teamwork? Turns out, we’ve been training for the co-op model all along. A cooperative is what “working together” looks like all grown up. On the surface, co-ops might resemble traditional businesses—they offer the same products and services. But behind the shelves, it’s a whole different story.

At the Boise Co-op Market, our purpose is to nurture every body in our community without compromise. What makes us different? Our Members are the owners. That means every local carrot, every bottle of shampoo, and every community event is brought to you by people who care—because they’re invested, literally and figuratively.

Instead of funneling profits to outside investors, we return surplus revenue to our Members—based on how much they engage with the Co-op. It’s business by the people, for the people. And guiding all of this is our volunteer Board of Directors—nine local legends who make sure the Co-op stays true to its roots: quality, ethics, sustainability, accessibility, and care.

Welcome to the co-op model—where shared ownership meets shared purpose. Let’s grow this together.
