Boise Co-op Goes 100% Renewable

We are so excited to announce that all Co-op locations’ electricity use is now powered by 100% renewable energy! In partnership with Idaho Power, we made the switch to clean, renewable energy generated right here in the beautiful northwest.

Through the end of 2020, most of the renewable energy — 86% — will come from efficiency upgrades Idaho Power has made to three of its Idaho-based hydropower plants. The remaining 14% is split between solar and wind energy.

Starting in 2021, we’ll be sourcing our energy from solar and wind. The Co-op will cover our estimated 2,400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy use (equivalent to powering about 210 average homes in Idaho Power’s service area) next year by purchasing 95% of its renewable energy from solar plants and 5% from wind turbines through an agreement with Idaho Power and participation in the Green Power Program.

Did you know that the Green Power Program is available to all Idaho Power customers? For an extra 1¢ per kWh, you can opt to source your power from renewable energy sources. For more info or to sign up today, visit their website.
