Fattoria Selvapiana Bio
Federico Giuntini is the 5th generation owner of Fattoria Selvapiana, a 181-year-old Tuscan estate known for producing exceptional wines in the Chianti Rufina zone. Originally a summer residence for Florentine bishops, the estate was transformed into a winery by Federico's family. With 148 acres of vineyards on the 617-acre estate, Selvapiana produces elegant Chianti Rufina wines. Federico, along with his sister Silvia, continues the legacy established by their father, Francesco Giuntini, and longtime estate manager, Franco Masseti.
Selvapiana's journey faced challenges, from hiring quality talent to battling a proposed incineration plant on their land. Federico's commitment to organic farming and minimal-impact winemaking led to improved soil health and vibrant vineyards. The estate's production focuses on exceptional Chianti Rufina wines, including renowned crus like Chianti Rufina Riserva Bucerchiale and Fornace, along with Vin Santo and olive oil.
Federico's career highlights include successful partnerships and fortunate events, such as the UK import deal with David Gleave and critical acclaim for the 1990 vintage. He currently serves as the president of the Consorzio Chianti Rufina, solidifying his role in shaping the region's winemaking future.
