Make Your Own Apple Cider

We're selling our delicious mulling spices for only $1.18/oz right now, so it's the perfect time to take a stab at making your own apple cider to stave off that chill in the air! This recipe will yield about a half gallon of delicious, homemade cider.

Directions

  1. Quarter the apples, leaving peels and seeds
  2. In a large pot, add apples and fill with water until the apples are just covered
  3. Pour in the sugar
  4. Put mulling spices in cheese clock and tie, adding the bag to the pot
  5. Boil on high for 1 hour (uncovered), checking frequently
  6. Turn to a simmer and cook for two more hours (covered)
  7. Remove spice bag and mash apples to a pulp (you can use a potato masher)
  8. Let mixture cool and pour through a strainer into a large bowl. Let the juice drain away, and put the pulp in doubled up cheese cloth. Squeeze over the bowl (make sure it's cool!) until no more juice comes out.
  9. Store the mixture in a sealed container for up to a week.
  10. To reheat: put in a pot and warm at medium on the stove. Add in caramels for some added Fall flavor! You can top with whip cream and cinnamon.
