We love supporting the Idaho Wine Industry and we just picked up some new wines from a winery up north that has been a pioneer in Idaho winemaking.
Clearwater Canyon has just released some new wines and we ordered them in as soon as they were available. We’ve got:
2016 Coco’s Reserve Red Blend: Malbec, Petite Sirah, Carmenere, Cabernet franc, Petite Verdot, and Merlot
Layer upon layer of ripe fruits and warm spices excite your senses. Plum compote, cumin, strawberry jam, and white pepper take turns as the leading role. Dark crimson and round tannins indicate this wine will age well. Dear Carmenère lovers, this is a wine for you!
2016 Mary Bonita Red Blend: Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Cabernet
Mary Bonita is Coco's Grandmother. Rich aromas and flavors of dried raspberries, vanilla bean, and dark-silt-loam soils soothe the soul. Levity is imparted with a blast of the classic mineral, specifically wet stone, characteristic of the Lewis-Clark Valley. Mouthwatering acidity and rounded tannins finish the beautiful experience of a wine worthy of Mary Bonita.
2016 Louis Del Sol Cabernet: Cabernet, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah
Pecan pie, pomegranate, currants, juniper berries, roasted marshmallows and cobble stones lead you into the glass and seemly soak into your palate. Velvety tannins and intense color make this an age worthy wine that can be enjoyed for its boldness now or can be your muse for years to come.
2016 The Wine Project: Petite Verdot, Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Malbec
The inky pigment and full-bodied tannins of this wine are matched with bold flavors of sandalwood, cinnamon, black cherries, and purple violets that lead into a long finish of roasted marshmallows, hazelnuts, and charcoal.
We also picked up some reserve wines from Ste. Chapelle; usually only available at the winery, but we were able to bring some in for the Wine Shop.
2016 Open Air Red Blend: Cabernet, Syrah, Grenache, Malbec, and Tempranillo
Aromas and flavors of dark fruit and cocoa, finishing with vibrant fruit and smooth tannins.
NV Sparkling Wild Huckleberry: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
This wild sparkler boasts vibrant huckleberries married with the crisp sweetness of apricot and nectarine.
