Mas Cornut, $12.99

I did not have a chance to taste this wine before we brought it in, but I trusted my gut (and Divit), and knew I should give it a try. I've always enjoyed Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blends—this bottling did not disappoint.Cornut is located in the Costieres de Nimes, a small wine producing
region that borders France’s Mediterranean coast. The area has a reputation for producing high quality wines at reasonable prices, and the Mas Cornut is no exception. There is a tremendous amount of value here. The blend is 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 40 percent Syrah, aged in oak for 12 months. The wine is a bit restrained, showing an old world style with cassis and dark fruit from the Cabernet, complemented by the spice and garrigue of the Syrah. I enjoyed it with a nice top sirloin steak with sautéed mushrooms and onions, but it will also go well with pizza on a
Monday night. Cheers!
