2012 Gavignet Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuit, Clos des Dames Huguettes, $45

This month I am back with Burgundy, I just can't help it. The 2012 vintage looks to be another good one for Red Burgundy so I decided to try this Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Nuits. It’s surprisingly dark for Pinot Noir fruit with berry and black cherry flavors and just a hint of toast. This wine has real depth with some dusty tannins in the back. While I enjoyed it when first opened, it was even better on day two, which makes me think it will improve for three to five years. I put six bottles in my cellar. Clos des Dames Huguettes is the only named vineyard allowed on the label for this entire appelation, they believe it’s that special. They may be on to something, as I have had Huguettes wines from Mongeard and they were always a stand out
