With earlier warm weather comes an earlier rosé season. Yes, we're seeing the first 2014 rosés; it will be a wonderful flood by June. Soon all your favorites will be stacked and chilled but I'm glad that this Cheverny from Domaine du Salvard came early. Like spring, it is a harbinger of great things to come. A blend of 65 percent Pinot Noir and 35 percent Gamay, this is an incredibly balanced wine. Not too sharp with acidity, nor over blossomed with fruit, it is delicate with raspberries, lemon zest, and high tones of kiwi. But because of its balanced components, it is both simple and complex. Delicious. Enjoy now and as long as it lasts. Oh yes, for those still in rosé denial, the world is definitely flat!
