You will no doubt read a lot about Thanksgiving wines and pairings in any number of publications this time of year. Well, nothing says Thanksgiving like a good Rosso di Montalcino.......Really? OK, maybe not, unless you plan on having a very Italianate holiday. The good news though is that there are plenty of other meals in the month to pair with an outstanding Sangiovese from this iconic region in Tuscany. This rosso from Cordella is sourced from the heavier clay-laden soils of the northeastern quadrant of Montalcino resulting in darker, more power-ful wines. The wine shows ample fruit intensity, and the crisp acidity brightens the palate impression through to the crisp finish, making for an ideal pairing with rich pas-ta dishes, tomato based sauces and red meats. Thanksgiv-ing Osso Buco anyone?
