For the month of September, we're shining the spotlight on wines from Down Under. Australian wines once enjoyed a huge following, but starting about ten years ago, people seemed to lose interest and sales suffered. But in the past year or so things have begun to pick up again. If you haven't tried Oz wines recently, you may be surprised.
A new, more balanced and restrained style is starting to emerge. On the other hand, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has always remained popular, but more recently they have carved out a niche, producing world class Pinot Noir.
Our friends from Idaho Wine Merchant will be pouring from their portfolio for First Friday at the tasting counter in the Main Store. We'll have the wines available for sampling again on Saturday in the Wine Shop. All the wines will be on sale for 15% off both days. Here's the line-up:
- Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc
- Nautilus Pinot Noir
- Pewsey Vale Dry Riesling
- Yalumba Vermentino
- Jim Barry Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon
- Jim Barry Lodge Hill Syrah
